A Word from the President….

Wow is seems like yesterday we were just getting started with the New Year and were planning all of our Events for the year and now the Holidays are fast approaching and we are all setting up our displays while  getting ready to enjoy time with Family and Friends.

It has been an event filled year for the club with so many things going on that it seems like yesterday we were making things for our Villages, Annual Picnic, putting together plans for the Memorial Display, our annual Road Trip, and our up coming Annual Holiday Dinner and gift exchange.

On Sat. October 2nd, 11 of us traveled to Hall’s Tennessee to visit Charlene’s. It was a day filled with fun, excitement, food and prizes as we shopped for Holiday gifts, had lunch in the Tea Room and did more shopping.  The Vignette to raise money for the Memorial Display was won by Pat Malone and she also one the large door prize of the Halloween display.  Everyone urged Pat to buy a lottery ticket but I guess her luck ran out because she did not win that evening.  A great time was had by all.

This past Saturday Nov. 20th was the set up for the Memorial Display.  7 people came to help set up our first display for the club and it was met with great response from the residents of the Kirby Pines Retirement Home.  We had to make some last minute changes due to the delays in construction of the new hospital at LeBonhuer. Kirby Pines was more than happy to have us and we have a prime location.  It was a great feeling to see all our planning, work, and donations come together to spread some Holiday Cheer.  I know that Lynn was looking down at us with a big smile on her face.  Thanks for everyone for making this happen. We can’t wait for next year.

Thanks to those who have volunteered to host a meeting next year.  We will be making plans at the December Meeting so please come prepared with a date in mind so we can plan our Annual Calendar.

I look forward to seeing everyone on December 4th for my open house.  We will start at 4:00 p.m. and have appetizers and then move to Mary and Don’s for our Annual Holiday Dinner and gift exchange.  Read more details in the next meeting Section.

I want everyone to know what we need to send our thoughts and prayers to Jackie Robinson and to Jim Shull as they are recovering from some health issues.  We hope they are feeling better and a speedy recovery.

Have a Great Thanksgiving and be safe.

Jeffery
